Attendance Matters - Every school day counts!

Children need to attend school regularly to benefit from their education. At St Anne’s, we firmly believe that every lesson counts, as does every day at school. For a child to reach their academic potential high attendance at school is essential. We expect children to attend school if they are fit enough to do so. We believe that our children should enjoy coming to school and we provide a nurturing and rewarding environment for the children to learn.

We are focusing on continuing to improve our attendance figures across the school this year. Good attendance at school is very important. If you are not in school, you can’t learn. This year we aim to have an attendance percentage of 97% or above.

We are working hard to encourage all of your children to come into school as regularly as possible. The target figure is 97%. You will know from the letters sent home how your child is doing and whether they are close to the target. All of our children who attend school as often as they can, achieve well academically and also have good relationships with their friends, we want to encourage this as much as possible. We are using Potato Head figures in the classroom. Children can attach a piece each day that they achieve the target set for their class. The first Key Stage one class and Key Stage 2 class to complete their potato head, wins £10 for the class. They are then saving this and deciding with their teacher what they would like to spend it on. Year 3 are doing the best so far.

We have an assembly on a Monday morning to celebrate who has had the best attendance the week before. Foundation 2 has the highest so far, closely followed by Year 3. The winning classes each week take a trophy back to their class until the next week.

Thank you for bringing your children to school as often as you can and for helping our brilliant teachers and teaching assistants to give them the opportunity to achieve as much as possible at school, it is always a pleasure for us and their friends to see them.

We will be rewarding good attendance across the year in a variety of different ways. Download our policy below to read about them and our expectations for attendance.
